postheadericon Does Soda Cause Acne?

Soda is a popular soft drink in our culture today and many people are drinking it and even replacing water with it. Soda is a combination of carbonated water, sugar, caffeine, dye’s and carbonation. Many skincare professionals such as dermatologists will say that what you drink doesn’t cause acne or pimples but if you start changing your diet your skin will break out more or begin to clear up. Have you ever noticed that? I have noticed that personally and I know that food and drinks effect acne so clearly what you ingest effects if you have acne or not.

Let’s get back to soda and how it effects skin and whether it causes breakouts or not. Soda does a few things in the body, one of the first one’s being that it is acidic and causes disruption of normal healthy cell function. You want to be eating and drinking foods and drinks that are healthy and alkaline because your body is too acidic in the first place because of the foods and drinks you ingest and because of the toxins in our environment today. You should be eating and drinking things that are healthy because when you are healthy your skin is healthy as well.

Besides being laced with a lot of sugar, caffeine and dyes which are not good for you soda causes dehydration in your body. Most people are dehydrated and need to get more water in their diet and when you drink soda you make the soda dehydration an even bigger problem. When you are dehydrated your blood flow and skin become more stagnant and toxic which creates an environment that is easier for acne to grow in.

So soda causes acne in a few ways, it causes dehydration which slows the healing process and it also causes your body to not be as healthy. The sugar, caffeine and dye’s in the soda do that as well. They cause dehydration and cause your body to be more acidic which slows the healing process and creates a cellular environment where acne is more prone to grow.
