postheadericon Fantastic Action Movies That Were In Theaters In The Last Decade

Over the past few years, action movies have taken huge steps forward. The budgets are as big as they have ever been, and visual effects have become so impressive that action movies often make us wonder if what we are watching actually happened.

These are some of the best action movies to be released over the past few years.

The Dark Knight had everything an action movie ought to have. There was suspense, explosions, and several stunts that we have never seen before. Not all action movies are actually great films, but The Dark Knight received a ton of critical acclaim, and with good reason.

The other great superhero film from the past few years was Iron Man. This movie was more lighthearted than The Dark Knight, but was incredibly entertaining. The action scenes were unlike anything we have ever seen. When Iron Man is being chased by M16s, it is like a roller coaster ride.

When it comes to the best action movie audiences have been exposed to in recent years, however, the award goes to Avatar. Futuristic war scenes on another planet out of the mind of James Cameron with 10-foot tall blue aliens on dinosaur like birds against an American military? Yes please.

Another film that was action packed while satisfying critics and audiences around the world was Lord Of The Rings: The Return Of The King. Peter Jackson pulled out all the stops with the final story in this epic trilogy, and as a result, the film won the Oscar for best picture of the year.

Another action film that I thoroughly enjoyed was Kick-Ass. This film certainly featured something we have never seen before: A 10 year old girl beating up on bad guys. Hit Girl does not mess around, and some of the scenes in this film are not for the faint of heart.

As it stands, this is my list. I may have to save room for the Expendables, as it has the biggest action cast ever assembled and has been in the works for years.
