postheadericon How Does Electric Cigarettes Work?

Electric cigarettes are increasingly gaining popularity among people who once thought that they wouldn’t be able to quit smoking! The reason for popularity of electric cigarettes or E-Cigs, as these are commonly referred, is due to fact that these electronic devices emulates regular cigarettes in its appearance and simulates the traditional cigarettes in action. Like regular cigarettes, here too the person can inhale and exhale ‘smoke’. But in E-Cigs the ‘smoke’ is actually a vapor-mist containing flavored propylene glycol and some percentage of nicotine, which is harmless to the person and to those around him/her. This is certainly a move over regular cigarettes which give off smoke that’s produced as a result of the burning of tobacco.

It has been found through research that over 4,000 chemical compounds are formed and released when tobacco burns. The same thing happens when someone lights a cigarette. The smoke that’s formed as a result contains a huge number of chemical compounds of which almost 50 are known to be the causative agents that are responsible for causing cancer! Hence, cigarette smokers are most vulnerable to cancers, especially lung cancer. Tar is a byproduct released as a result of burning of tobacco. Tar is an organic compound which is sticky by nature. When inhaled with the smoke, tar settles on the lung alveoli and mixes with blood stream inhibiting the red blood cells or erythrocytes to function properly. It hinders the normal oxygen-carbon dioxide transport mechanism of our body resulting in faulty respiration. Also, on prolonged exposure to tar and other toxic compounds like benzene, formaldehyde, naphthalene etc, formed as byproducts of the burning of tobacco, malignant tumors may develop inside the internal organs like lungs! Electric cigarettes on the other hand are a safer alternative! If you’re looking to buy an E-Cig it is better to know at first its working mechanism.

Most electric cigarettes consists of 4 parts – LED Light Cover, a lithium-ion battery, an atomizer or the heating element housing the microprocessor that helps to generate the vapor mist and cartridge or cartomizer that contains the mouth piece and also a chamber within filled with liquid nicotine, propylene glycol and water. While taking a drag on E-Cigs, the air flow is detected automatically by a sensor. It activates the microprocessor within the atomizer injecting droplets of the liquid from the cartomizer into the incoming air stream. The heat vaporizes the liquid creating a mist which resembles smoke! When inhaled it feels like smoke from burning tobacco and tastes like regular cigarettes. The user can exhale ‘smoke’ or vapor-mist just like a traditional cigarette. In a word electric cigarettes let you enjoy ‘safe’ smoking experience!
