The key to all diets is like reading a good book; you need something to capture your attention and to make you want to see it through to the end. In terms of diets, the best way to do this is of course, to get some immediate weight loss which is a spring board of positive motivation.

It is a fact that the first few pounds are the easiest to lose, so what we need to do here is build a solid foundation as well as see off a few pounds of weight.

Flushing toxins from the body will help with the weight loss and to do this we need to increase our water intake. Toxins impede the loss of fat so this is very important and we need to consistently drink up to eight glasses of water per day.

Water helps to speed digestion as well as many other processes in your body. And if your body is running more smoothly, then you can burn more calories along the way.

We do not feel full until 10 mins or so after we stop eating and this is one of the main reasons we can eat too much. By spreading the time between courses with a little chat or diversion, we can give our body time to send the full signals. Warm soup will also help us feel fuller quicker and is excellent as an aid for diets for quick weight loss. Try taking some prior to going out for a meal, it should help reduce the portions consumed.

Avoid eating frozen and pre-packaged food which contain a lot of salt, this may say salt and or sodium on the label and we should check this and avoid high amounts. A lot of our extra weight can be caused as a result of too much salt in our diet and just as we increase water we must decrease salt from our diet for the best effect.

Fat is the enemy and one of the main causes of fat is unused sugar in our body, those snacks of candy bars and milkshakes are full of sugar. The white bread and pasta we love are full of sugar, and too much sugar equals fat. We must therfore, avoid, or at least, cut down on these sugar foods.

Some small changes can make some big improvements, so try cutting the snacks down, just one a week as a special treat and try whole wheat bread instead of white bread.

Steamed vegetables are a great way to quick start your diet, eat them at every meal as they will help to energise your body whilst their natural diuretic effect will help you lose water.

We all know about fruit and veg, so we should increase these where possible, raw vegetables can make a great snack just as fruit can.

No question we need to increase our physical activities, studies have shown that you can walk just a few times a week and burn the calories that you want to burn. Thirty minutes a day is the best way to lose seven pounds in two weeks, but if you don’t have that much time, try to split it up over the course of the day – say ten minutes three times a day, or just try to fit in three good thirty minute walks a week.

None of what is mentioned is major yet the benefits are and they will kick start our diet and help us to achieve our target weight and improve our health considerably.
