postheadericon Tips on How Meyer Lemon Trees are grown

It is nice to grow a Meyer lemon tree in your backyard. With the fruits that it bears, you can
use it for cooking or as a lemonade juice. The Meyer lemon tree is from two kinds of breed, the
lemon tree and the mandarin tree. Though it shows significant characteristics that of a lemon
fruit the taste is much sweeter and less bitter while its acidity level is low.

When the Meyer lemon tree reaches its maturity it bears a lot of fruit. The fruit is typically green
in its early development and turns into yellow-orange when it is time to harvest the fruit. The
duration by which Meyer lemon trees matures can extend all year round. So in order to help one
grow a Meyer lemon tree here are some few tips on how to start.

Surveying your land area should be the first step so that you will know if it suits to grow a Meyer
lemon tree. The climate that will allow a Meyer lemon tree shouldn’t be beneath zero degrees
Celsius or thirty two degrees Fahrenheit. But if this is not the climate that you have, you can
improvise and make a greenhouse where you can control the temperature of the environment.

Take off your Meyer lemon tree from its pot and remove the soil around the roots, sprinkle water
on the root area so that it would be moist. Then plant the Meyer lemon tree in a large container
with the size of a five gallon to give sufficient space for the plant’s roots to grow. It is better to
use plastic pots than clay ones because it is easier to move the plant around the backyard or put
it inside for cold weather climates. Make holes at the bottom of the container so that the water
is drained whenever you water the plant and so it will not be soaked. The level from which you
took off the plant from should be of the same depth when you replant it. Make sure that the
Meyer lemon tree when planted is in a straight direction and sturdy.

Constantly water your Meyer tree seedling and put organic fertilizer in it. Lemon fruits need
sufficient amount of water most especially if it is grown outdoors. Water your Meyer tree
seedling daily to moisten the soil but be careful not to saturate it. In choosing fertilizer for the
plant use organic fertilizer as it have more good effects to the fruit than those chemical ones. Put
organic fertilizer on your Meyer lemon tree daily or as prescribed in the fertilizer’s package.

Choose the right spot for the Meyer lemon tree to grow, it needs ample direct sunlight. And it
usually has to be in the sunlight for six to eight hours on a daily basis. So be sure to have the
right spot for the Meyer lemon tree.

The sign that the fruit of the tree may be used is when it turns into yellow-orange. And because it
bears many, you may leave the rest as the fruit does not overripe.
